About the Position

Due to the continued growth of our business, our small busy purchasing team have created this new opportunity for a Purchasing Officer to provide vital support to the warehouse and freight operations team.

This hands-on role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment, who takes pride in contributing to the purchasing and inventory function while assisting with freight and warehouse operations, to ensure it is running smoothly and efficiently.

Your tasks would include:

• Collect and dispatch freight in accordance with daily schedules and site requirements.
• Organise and process inbound freight, ensuring accurate receipt and storage.
• Prepare and manage freight manifests, maintaining accurate records at all times.
• Receipt and receive incoming goods, verifying accuracy against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
• Assist freight truck driver/s with the loading and unloading. 
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised warehouse environment.
• Operate a forklift safely and in compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
• Drive company vehicles, including those with trailers, for freight pickups and deliveries as required.
• Raise and manage purchase orders.
• Conducting stocktakes and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Support the broader inventory management processes.

Your Skills and Experience will Include:

• Valid forklift licence.
• Current driver's licence (C class minimum), with confidence driving vehicles with trailers.
• At least 2 years’ purchasing experience within haulage and earthmoving equipment industries such as mining services, mining haulage/transportation, earthmoving, construction, engineering.
• A bonus if your you have experience within warehouse or freight/logistic environment too.
• Komatsu and Kenworth experience preferred but not essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Professional phone manner with strong verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• A proactive, team-first attitude.
• Good numeracy skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• A genuine love for being organised, working in a varied role.
• A current National Police Clearance or ability to obtain one (less than 12 months old).
• Must hold full Australian working rights.
