The Position

We seek a detail-oriented and organised Electrical Switchboard Estimator to join our Electrical projects team at our Head Office in Booragoon. As a key contributor in the team, you will need a strong understanding of the Electrical Standards and principals to produce accurate and competitive switchboard quotations . This position involves the Estimation of projects from initial RFQ to the final hand over of the secured project to the Project Management team. This includes but is not limited to, the below duties.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Ensure adherence to quality, occupational health & safety policies, procedures & work instructions

• Develop a tender through detailed estimates and data input

• Manage the database estimating software

• Procure quotes from suppliers, equipment vendors and sub contractors

• Calculate labour hours and requirements 

• Liaise with clients to clarify RFI’s and project definitions

• Conduct material takeoffs for materials and equipment in line with specifications. 

• Advise management of changes required on standard products as a result of market demands.

• Liaise with CAD draftspersons and production with regards to new developments or new products.

• Ascertain and report to management on competitor activities.

• Update supplier pricing database as required

• Liaise with Electrical General Manager for review of the tender before submittal

• Chase clients for outcomes to tenders and provide feedback to the Electrical General Manager.

• Manage tender list and clients to ensure enough time is allowed to provide a competitive/compliant bid.
  

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum of 3-5 years estimating experience

• Trade qualification as a licensed electrician

• Knowledge of electrical switchboard industry

• Ability to decipher schematic, single line diagrams and specifications

• Ability to identify and utilise appropriate materials and equipment for electrical switchboard manufacture.

• Ability to problem solve with respect to the technical aspects of industrial electrical switchboard projects.

• Working knowledge of AS/NZS 61439 and AS/NZS 3000

• Skilled in communication, teamwork, planning and organising.

• Have an attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong negotiation skills

• Ability to work under tight deadline pressures

• Knowledge of Quality, Occupation Health and Safety Practices.

• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.

• Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Enterprise Resource Planning tools.

• Proficient in English – written and verbal.

• Ability to deal directly with customers either by telephone, electronically or face to face.

• Ability to follow instructions.

• Provide good time keeping and attendance
